Petrof Model 115 — a Czech upright, just under 115 cm tall, in oak, high gloss.
It is an instrument for the home: for children who practise regularly, for adults coming back to the piano, and for the teaching room.
Petrof has been building in Hradec Králové for generations and has remained a family firm. Just under 115 cm is the compact home format — the strings are shorter than on a tall upright, but the instrument keeps modestly to its place in the room. Two pedals: the right holds the note, the left softens it. There is no felt strip for quiet practice; anyone who plays in the evening solves that another way.
The oak veneer is polished to a high gloss, the grain stays visible and brings colour into a room otherwise furnished in black. High gloss shows dust and fingerprints; a soft, dry cloth is enough.
The piano stands against the wall and, with room to sit, takes about 0.8 m². At 54.5 cm deep it goes through any ordinary door. Keep it away from the radiator and out of direct sun, since swings in humidity put it out of tune. It weighs 215 kg — above the ground floor it is carried by movers. If you practise late and have neighbours behind the wall, an acoustic upright can have a Silent System fitted, and you play on through headphones.
