August Förster 103 — an upright 104 cm high, in oak, high gloss.
This is the compact home format: for a wall that has little to spare, and for anyone who prefers wood to black lacquer. August Förster builds in Löbau, in small numbers and largely by hand.
At 104 cm the bass strings are shorter than in a tall upright and the bass is leaner to match — in exchange the instrument stands where a 130 no longer goes. Two pedals: the right holds the note, the left softens it. There is no middle pedal with a felt strip for quiet practice; if you play in the evening and have neighbours, an acoustic instrument will take a Silent System, and you play on through headphones.
High gloss over wood shows the grain — and every fingerprint with it. Dust it dry and softly, and keep spray cleaners away.
The upright stands against the wall: 142 cm wide, 54 cm deep, which takes it through an ordinary door. 200 kg means movers as soon as it has to go above the ground floor. Not by the radiator and not in the sun — swings in humidity put it out of tune.
