Petrof 114 K — a Czech upright, 114 cm high, black high gloss, with three pedals.

Petrof of Hradec Králové is the largest piano maker in the Czech Republic, and the firm's uprights are at home in many Central European music schools. 114 cm sits in the middle of the home format: more bass string than a compact 108, and still a piano that fits an ordinary room.

Right for a child who is past the first steps, for adults coming back to the instrument, and for the teaching room. Three pedals: the right holds the note, the left softens it, and the middle one lowers the felt strip so that the neighbours hear little of the practice.

High gloss shows fingerprints and reflects the window; a soft, dry cloth puts the surface right again. The piano is 148 cm wide and 54 cm deep, stands against the wall and, with somewhere to sit, takes about 0.8 m²; an ordinary door is no obstacle. It weighs 220 kg, and above the ground floor it is carried by movers. Not by the radiator, not in the sun. If you practise in the evening, a Silent System can be fitted and you play with headphones on the same keys.
