GEWA DP520 — a digital piano in a classic cabinet, satin black, 146.5 cm wide and 59.5 cm deep.
The keyboard has 88 hammer-action keys, weighted by zone, with a grippy Ivory Touch surface. The principal voice is a high-resolution sample of a Steinway D-274, and behind it stand twenty more sounds, all of them through a two-way speaker system. You work the instrument from an OLED display, or from the GEWA Piano Remote App on your phone.
Two headphone sockets sit under the keyboard — teacher and pupil hear the same thing, and the room stays quiet. Bluetooth brings audio and MIDI into the instrument, and recordings go out to a USB stick as MIDI or WAV files. A metronome, practice pieces and a tool for fine-tuning the touch are built in.
A digital piano does not need tuning and does not mind dry heated air. Anyone looking for the resistance of real strings and hammers should reach for an acoustic instrument. Two people can carry its 56 kg, and after that it asks for nothing but a socket within reach.
