It suits a flat with no room for an upright, and anyone who takes their instrument with them — onto a table, onto a stand, into rehearsal. If what you want is the resistance of real hammers and the resonance of a wooden case, an acoustic piano serves you better.
The Smart Touch keyboard works with a hammer action, and the basic voice comes from a Hamburg grand recorded in stereo. With it come fifteen voices, split and layer, a four-hand mode, metronome, reverb and chorus, and 81-note polyphony. The instrument itself carries a single function button; everything else — string and pedal resonance, hammer, half-pedal, una corda, tuning — you set in the GEWA Piano Remote App on your phone.
Sockets for headphones, line out, aux in, USB to host and two pedals, plus Bluetooth for audio and MIDI. The built-in 2 × 10 watt system fills a living room; play late and you plug in headphones, and nobody in the house is listening in. Without a stand the instrument measures 131 × 34 × 11 cm.
